What Are Full Height Plantation Shutters?

Full Height Plantation Shutters are probably the most recognisable style of plantation shutter. The advantage of plantation shutters is that they are not only a sturdy choice built into the recess. Whether you want to keep your home warm by closing the shutters or cool a space down by opening them, the plantation shutters will suit each need.

As their name suggests, these shutters feature tall door panels which reach from the top to bottom of the window. They also feature horizontal ‘louvred’ slats across the panel. The plantation shutter is designed to allow these slats to tilt. This allows control over how much light and air is allowed in, whilst still being as practical as they are stylish.

Full Height Plantation Shutters are also great at keeping light out. As they are full height panels they can be closed and the slats shut. This will eliminate much of the light coming into your room.

Central Tilt Rod

A central tilt rod is the traditional style for Full Height Plantation Shutters. This tilt rod is attached to the panel in the centre and runs vertically down the louvered slats.This ensures that when you move the slats they will all move together. Often this is a popular choice for more traditional style homes.

Hidden Tilt

A hidden tilt is the more modern variation for a Ful Height Plantation Shutter. Rather that having the tilt rod run down the centre it is positioned at the backside of the panel. It performs the same function, ensuring the louvered slats move together. These have seen increasing popularity in more modern homes, but are often chosen simply for a preference of not having the tilt road easily accessible.

Tracked

Tracked Shutters are a great way to maximise the light you allow into a room when shutters are open, or to combine with windows and doors. By placing the shutter on a track that runs neatly along the frame, the shutter doors can separate and slide down to each end, folding up neatly out of the way. This will increase the open space, and also allow access to window doors.
