What are Wooden Venetian Blinds?

Wooden Blinds consist of horizontal slats, typically made of either a high-quality wood or a faux wood, that can be tilted to control light and privacy. They are a classic window treatment that adds warmth and sophistication to any room.

Benefits of Wooden Venetian Blinds

  • Aesthetic Appeal: Wooden blinds add a natural, timeless look to your interiors. They are available in various finishes to match your decor.
  • Light Control: The adjustable slats allow precise control over the amount of light entering the room.
  • Privacy: When fully closed, wooden blinds provide excellent privacy.
  • Insulation: Wood is a natural insulator, helping to keep your home warm in the winter and cool in the summer.

Considerations for Wooden Venetian Blinds

  • Maintenance: Wooden blinds require regular dusting and occasional deep cleaning to maintain their appearance.
  • Moisture Sensitivity: They are not always ideal for high-humidity areas like bathrooms as excessive moisture can create a risk of warping.

Faux Wood vs Real Wood

Real Wood Venetian Blinds have an appealing style as it is clear they are made from genuine wood and not a substitute. They are also generally considered sturdier and more durable due to the quality of wood.

Faux Wood provides a cheaper alternative. They may not have quite the same look as Real Wood but ultimately achieve the same style. They are a great alternative if you are looking to reduce the overall cost of your Blinds whilst still keeping the same desired look for your home.

What are Plantation Shutters?

Plantation Shutters are a type of window covering with wide, louvered slats that can be adjusted to control light and air flow. Our Shutters are all made from a high quality composite material which makes them more durable and easier to care for.

Benefits of Plantation Shutters

  • Durability: Shutters are built to last, with sturdy construction that can withstand wear and tear.
  • Energy Efficiency: Shutters provide excellent insulation, reducing heat loss in the winter and keeping your home cool in the summer. The British Blinds and Shutters Association estimates Shutters can reduce heat-loss by up to 28%!
  • Easy Maintenance: They are easy to clean and require less frequent maintenance compared to blinds.
  • Increased Property Value: Shutters are a permanent addition to your home built to last for a long time and can potentially increase its resale value.
  • Custom Fit: They can be custom-made to fit nearly any window shape or size, offering a seamless look.

Considerations for Plantation Shutters

  • Cost: Shutters are generally more expensive upfront than other window treatments but can offer better value as a long-term investment.
  • Installation: Professional installation is recommended to ensure a perfect fit and optimal functionality. We offer this complimentary with all orders.
  • Visibility: Unlike Blinds, Shutters are always visible and cannot be rolled up or hidden away.

Village Blinds and Shutters Home Appointments FAQ

Our design consultant will arrive at the agreed time slot and ask you questions about your requirements and style preferences to help understand your project. They will measure your windows and discuss fabric/material options and provide you with a quotation based on your choices.

Depending on your requirements, a home appointment can take from 30 minutes for 1-10 blinds, to 60 minutes for 10+ blinds or window shutters. Our design consultant will work at your pace and we’re happy to stay longer to talk through your options and provide advice if you’d like.

We would ask ahead of the home appointment that you have arranged clear access to the window areas being measured and that any obstructing furniture or breakables near the windows are removed.

Once the windows are in, plastering has been completed and any tiling or skirting or architrave that might be close to the blinds has been installed. This will allow our design consultant to take accurate measurements.

Usually, our design consultant will be able to provide you with your quotation during your appointment.  Sometimes for some very bespoke projects pricing can take a little longer. If you haven’t heard back within 24 hours, give them a call or email and they will keep you updated.

Our production team work tirelessly to craft every single blind and shutter for our customers individually. Lead in times can vary depending on factors such as material availability and our production schedule. That being said we will always work to get your order as quickly as possible. Ask your design consultant for an up-to-date lead time estimate.
